Bird Park Trip, armed with a Canon IXUS 95IS!

Thanks to Omy.sg and Canon, I got to try out an awsome new camera called the Canon IXUS 95IS, along with it’s equally hot counterpart, Canon Selphy CP780.

The Canon IXUS 95 IS is a lightweight, and user-friendly device. The previous camera which I owned (and lost), has a much slower start-up time then this pretty thing! Guess what, this camera’s startup time is around 1 second! That means you can whip it out from your pocket, while pressing the button, and once the camera reach your eyes, it would already be turned on!

The first day with this camera was like a fantasy. I know I think I lag behind when it comes to technology, but I did not even think of the ‘Smart Auto’ mode, which is like the coolest thing ever! Whenever you point to something in this mode, the camera will automatically detect the curret situation, and selects one out of the 18 modes to ensure optimum results!

Here you can see Andy clicking away at the camera.

Oh wait. Why is he looking so close into the camera? Did I mention that this digital camera actually has a viewfinder? This is one of the most energy efficient way I can think of. This could save lots of battery, so that you can enjoy the rest of the day without worrying about your camera running out of juice.

These are just some of the amazing features in this compact digital camera. Now let’s take a look at the counterpart, the Canon Selphy CP780! This is one of the latest Selphies around, and no doubt it prints quality images.

Printing photos! It’s really a breeze with the user friendly software!

These ink and blank sheets come together in one handy box, so you won’t ever need to buy them separately! How clever is that?! Plus, in a standard box would be 108 sheets and 3 catridges of ink, and they are just enough for each other! Brilliant!

Take a look at the video I made! This video is taken with the Canon IXUS 95IS

Went to the Bird Park at Jurong recently with the Omy people to take some photos, and have fun! Additional thanks to Leon who drove me there. We ended up being there super early!

First stop: FOOD! I was starving!

IMG_0177

We went to this classy fast food restaurant called Bongo Burgers, and I ordered a chicken burger. While the food was prepared I joked with Leon that they are slaughtering fresh chicken since we are at the Bird Park, and chickens are birds. I totally freaked!

Well when the burger came it wasn’t that bad, no blood no stray feathers from the chicken. Just a delicious meal! This photo was taken with flash, which I don’t know why, but makes it looks so yummy! It must be because of the reflective piece of tomato!

Quickly gobbled up my food, then went to this kid’s corner, where there’s a magic show, some stalls offering temporary tattoo services and even reading of tarot cards! I didn’t try though, because the queue was long!

IMG_0231

Oh and there is this fantastic view of these pink feathered birds. I forgot their names but I find them very elegant! (: I tried for countless times to get this photo of one of them spreading its wings!

IMG_0221

Next we went to the show, the Bird Show! My oh my. These birds are really well trained!

Under the command of the instructor, these parrots flew through hoops, pass notes from human to human. It’s amazing! There’s even this parrot that can sing songs!

Macro shot of the parrot, up close! So difficult to capture this because it keeps on flying away!

IMG_0329

Saw this group of parrots when we are leaving for the penguins, but didn’t manage to snap a shot with them!

Off to meet the Penguins!

IMG_0399

The penguin didn’t want to look into the camera. I was sad.

So I totally went in front of her and snapped my camera! It’s like a robot! It didn’t even seem to care.

Well, after disturbing the penguin, we took the monorail to the Lory Loft! I took a video on the monorail but I am not going to show you! Haha. But there’s a video taken at Lory Loft too.

Off to feed birds!

I know it’s always your dream to watch me feed birds! (:

My conclusion about the camera: This camera is really good, compared to the ones on the market, having a viewfinder on such a small camera, having around 1 second of start up time, which makes this compact digital camera the one experienced photographers will go for as a secondary compact camera. It being user-friendly and idiot-proof with the ‘Smart Auto’ mode, I think it is a must buy for anyone who is tired of turning the DSLR’s dials.

Had real fun with the Omy people! (: Hope more oppurtunities like these come by in the future!
