Send SMS and MMS on your iPad 3G with SwirlyMessage

Have you got your iPad yet? If you do, do you know you can actually SMS and MMS with it? Another reason to jailbreak your iPad!

Since Jailbreak-ing is legal now, why not head over to my latest Jailbreak guide and get started?

Here’s a video of Swirly Message working on the iPad.

Sorry for the low quality. Tried to upload the 720p version but youtube keeps failing on me. You’ll roughly get what I’m trying to show you anyway.

What you need:

A Jailbroken iPad 3G

US$12 on a credit/debit card or a Paypal account for payment in Cydia.

3G sim card that allows you to send SMS/MMS.

Here are some snapshots:

No threaded SMS at the moment, but I’m sure they’ll update it in the future.

Sleek graphics, but I’m kinda pissed off because there’s no threaded SMS, I can’t preview what I just sent.

I had to go into the “Sent” folder to check.

One good thing is that you don’t need to manually set your carrier messaging settings. It auto detects it for you.

You can also send MMSes via SwirlyNet. MMSes sent to another device that’s also using SwirlyNet is free of charge.

Although this is really a breakthrough, and a good-to-have application for the iPad, it needs some work on it.

Basic features such as threaded SMS, and alerts even while in the background are what I hope to see implemented in the upcoming versions.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit

I’ve got it! I’ll be sharing with you guys about the wonders this little thing can do, soon! Stay tuned.

Jailbreak your iOS Device (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad!)

This has been released for quite a while now, and I know. This is just to update people that aren’t aware, I’m sure there are many of you!

The following jailbreak method is set to jailbreak any iPhone, iPhone 3GS (new AND old model), iPhone 4, up to iOS 4.0.1, and the iPad, up to iOS 3.2. Which also technically means any iOS device as of date.

However, if you are using the iPhone 4, please make do some research on the app you are going to install on Cydia, because it might not be compatible with the new device yet.

This is one of the simplest jailbreak yet.

(Some history: If you have been using the iPhone since it’s first version, there’s a web jailbreak available for version 1.1.4 too, its called iJailbreakMobile.)

What you need:

Your iOS Device.

Wi-Fi preferably, 3G should work fine too.

Now you are set!

Directions:IMG_0159

Step 1: Go to http://www.jailbreakme.com

Step 2: Slide to Jailbreak your iOS device.

Step 3: Wait.

Step 4: You should be done in a few minutes.

If safari crashes for any reason, just try again from Step 1.

Now you can get back to customizing your iPhone and download jailbroken apps with Cydia!

:P

Ciao!

iPhone Jailbreak for OS 3.0 now available!

*excited*!

Around 3 days after the official iPhone OS 3.0 Release, the iPhone Dev Team have released yet another jailbreak to free our poor iPhones from their jails.

Here are my mirror links, yup, they are hosted by me!

To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!) If you are still having problems, visit here for an idiot-proof guide.

NOT FOR iPhone 3G(S)!
